Barcode Labels – They are not over yet!
With increased demand for QR code labels we had thought that we may see a reduction in the number of enquiries and order for linear barcode labels – we were wrong.
We are pleased to say that our customers who already use barcode labels, continue to do so and we continue to receive new enquiries for barcoded labels.
The competition?
The competition between barcode vs QR code label never really got started. But who knows what the future holds?
So far, QR codes have been used and marketed in a very different way to the barcode label. QR codes are ‘Quick Response’ codes that, once scanned, direct user to information.
Commercially used within the hospitality sector, many assume they link to a menu! This is not untrue, but the potential of the QR code has yet to be fully unlocked.
Barcode labels continue to serve as the ultimate asset control label. Housing vital information that can be scanned and imported to systems using specialist software. However, will this be the downfall of the barcode label?
QR codes can be scanned using the camera on an android mobile or tablet. Admittedly, the internet would be needed to reach the url housed within a QR code however any serial numbers would be read and with the use of software could also be logged effectively.
In conclusion, for industrial use and for use where internet may not be readily available, barcode will continue to serve our customers well.
