How to use Product Data Plates

Product data plates are an important component to any new or existing manufactured good. These plates house key pieces of information that the user and/or manufacturer needs to document or be aware of. As all products are different the information recorded on them needs to be bespoke to that item.

Issues that may be incurred are that it is not always possible to know the information prior to the label being applied to the product, for example; a date of manufacture can only be added to the plate once the product is finished and this date cannot always be foreseen or predicted.

A solution for this is to record data on-site or in-house. This can be done using a hand stamp, dot peen machine or laser engraver, depending on the amount of data that needs recording.

Another thing to consider when deciding on your product identity plates is how you will fix them into position. The surface the plates or labels are fixing to may not be suitable for drilling holes into and therefore selecting an adhesive would be the best option.
