WARNING Signage

Which Warning Label do you need?

Most company premises will need a warning label or plate for an area of their site.

We know, through experience of our own factory and office that the legislation around these is not always very clear – ironic really!

Although, it is the employer or business owner that is liable for displaying the warning labelling, it is actually a criminal offence to breach these strict health and safety regulations. Enforcement by the relevant authorities can result in serious fines or imprisonment as outlined by the Health and Safety Executive.

Here are the labels we manufacture with an example of how you may use them…

Blue Mandatory Labels
These signage & labels dictate a behaviour or action that should be taken or should happen to meet statuary requirements. An example of this would be in a noisy factory there would be a sign saying “Hearing Protection must be worn”. Having these labels helps to protect your company as clear directions are given for a person to protect themselves.

Yellow Warning Signs
These health and safety signs are required by the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 and in specific cases by the Dangerous Substances (Notification and Marking of Sites) Regulations 1990.

This basically translates to – put them up or your company could be in trouble! Yellow warning signs highlight a specific hazard or danger that could happen in a certain area or if using a certain product. For example; a very well known sign would be a ‘flame’ on a sign that indicates that a product is flammable.

Red Prohibition Signs
These red signs are to say and display ‘do not’ messages. For example in a certain area of the premises people cannot access and this is displayed through the use of the red prohibition sign.
At GSM Online Label Sales we offer a selection of labels that can be displayed in your work premises.
